How well do helmets protect your head in a motorcycle accident?

by San Antonio Attorney

I’m am wondering if there is a correlation between wearing a motorcycle helmet with a decrease in injuries during an accident.
And what about the concern of helmets obstructing your view and hearing while worn?

In most cases they protect…in the case of my son, had he had a helmet on when his cycle landed on his head, it (according to the doctors) would have crushed his skull and killed him….just depends on the accident….

Most of the time they do a very good job. They don’t always save a life but more live with helmets than with out. I droped a bike at 65mph. and rember my helmet hitting the road ( bang, bang, bang) I know that my head could not have withstood that.

Hit yourself in the helmet, then without the helmet and see which one hurts :)

well here’s a little test for you to find out! # 1. Get your helment put it on. # 2. get a freind to hit you on the head w/a hammer then take the helment off and repeat # 2.w/the friend.

In States that do not have a helmet law IE rider is not required to wear helmet, fatalities have increased, while non injury accidents have decreased.

I wear my helmet anytime I ride! Face planting into the pavement is not on my most wanted to do list!

Why do batters wear helmets in baseball? Common sense…..100 mph baseball hit helmet, or hit head? Gee….I wonder.

If you’re not wearing a helmet, you’re not big on living. Don’t know where you got the helmets make you deaf and blind, but they’re false. I ride a ton, always with a helmet, and they really don’t affect your peripheral vision, and if you’re smart you wear earplugs while riding anyway. A helmet is certainly quieter than no helmet. Think about coming off your bike at the speeds you ride, what do you think would happen to your bare unprotected head? The best riders know it’s not if they go down, but when.
I went down at 50 mph on some oil, and the helmet was deeply gouged but my head was fine. Got up and walked three miles for help. Without the helmet they would have needed a street sweeper for my brains.

Helmets don’t work at all! Don’t wear one and please sign your organ donor card.

helmets can help u survive a wreck…soft head is no match for asphalt or concrete at any speed…its that simple…the better the helmet, the better it protects

that is just a stupid question, but i’ll play along anyhow…how about you put one on and let me smack you in the head with a bat?..if you live through it i guess it works huh?same concept as a rider .
